Tao Te Ching 5

Heaven and earth are impartial;

They treat all things as straw dogs.

The Sage doesn’t take sides

He treats all people as straw dogs.

To him none are especially dear,

Nor is there anyone he disfavours.

He gives and gives, without condition,
offering his treasures to everyone.

The space between heaven and earth is like a bellows;
it is empty and inexhaustible.

The more it is used, the more it produces;

The more knowledge one possesses, the less one comprehends,
the more one becomes confused,
rather one shall hold onto the centre,
remain silent.

天地不仁,以万物为刍狗①;
圣人不仁,以百姓为刍狗。
天地之间,其犹橐龠乎②?
虚而不屈③,动而俞出④。
多闻数穷⑤,不若守于中⑥。
